Pueblo de Dios is a member congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America - the ELCA. The ELCA has a membership of 5 million people in the United States today.

Pueblo de Dios was founded in July of 2004 but has been working for the past 4 years under the umbrella of Zion Lutheran church. So Pueblo de Dios has been working in the community for some time. Zion Lutheran Church started and funded the Latino ministry with the help of Pastor Joseph Leon and other Lutheran churches in the Santa Clara Valley Lutheran Parish conference and Sierra Pacific Synod. When Zion decided to merge with Prince of Peace, it was important to members of the Zion congregation that the Pueblo de Dios ministry continue.

Prince of Peace is now a sister organization of Pueblo de Dios and offers support where needed. Prince of Peace and Pueblo de Dios share a common vision for a healthy and active Spanish Speaking ministry in the Bay Area with a Lutheran emphasis. Although separate congregations, these two church bodies work together closely to achieve this vision.
