Pastor Joseph Leon Welcomes You


Pueblo de Dios is pastored by the Reverend Joseph Leon. Pastor Leon is a graduate of the Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary. Pastor Leon is a compassionate and visionary leader who is also fluent in Spanish and English. For the past 5 years, Pastor Leon has served the needs of the Spanish speaking population of central San Jose, CA through his ministry at Pueblo de Dios. He is a native of San Jose, CA, having attended grammar school and graduated from the San Jose public school system. Pastor Leon is married and has three amazing daughters.

Pastor Leon is ordained by the Evagelical Lutheran Church in America, ELCA. He is very passionate about reaching out to the unchurched with the love of Christ that surpasses all understanding and building the kingdom of God one person at a time. As couples prepare for their life journey, certified counselor Pastor Leon helps them enrich their committed relationship. He also holds a P&C license with the state of California specializing in retirement and financial planning.

Pastor Leon is an accomplished musician, singer, songwriter, and performer. He has recorded one CD of traditional Latin and Mexican hymns with his mother, sister, and other musicians. He is also working on a CD of original songs that include modern arrangements of selected scriptures from the book of Psalms.

A lay leader at Pueblo de Dios, passionate about making disciples and building small groups, leads a discipleship class on Sunday Mornings along with the Worship Music.

The Leon Family

Maricela Leon, Pastor Leon’s wife, leads the women in small groups and builds support groups for single moms by networking and building bridges with other single parents. Maricela has a degree in business administration. But she has worked with children with autism for the past 3 years and is also taking classes for her Teacher’s credential at the Hispanic University in San José. She is passionate about reaching the unchurched in the Latino community.
